Harry Styles’ latest flame, Kendall Jenner, decided to play dumb when she and the One Direction hunk found themselves in the awkward company of his ex, Taylor Swift, at the American Music Awards.

The reality star squirmed as she was grilled publicly about her dinner date with Hazza last week, while Swift decided to make the pair shuffle nervously in their seats and bang on about heartbreak as she collected her trophies on stage.

‘We’re friends. He’s cool, yeah, he’s cool,’ the 18-year-old half-sister of Kim Kardashian winced after Styles was also spotted having breakfast near her dad Bruce’s house in Malibu, California.

Playing down the sightings, Jenner insisted: ‘You go out with one person, you’re automatically dating them.’

But onlookers at LA’s Nokia Theatre said the brunette couldn’t contain her excitement at seeing Styles again inside the awards bash.

A witness said: ‘As soon as Harry walked in, Kendall jumped up and gave him a huge hug.’

Meanwhile, it was left to Swift to publicly remind the pair how wounded she was left after her own Styles sleepovers fizzled out when she went up to collect the biggest of her four prizes – artist of the year.

The 23-year-old I Knew You Were Trouble crooner babbled: ‘This validates that if you voted for this, that we are heartbroken the same way and we are in love the same way and we’re happy the same way. I’m 23 and I have no idea what’s going to happen to me in my life.’

Taylor Swift has never tried to hide the fact that many of her hit songs on heartache are about her real-life high-profile suitors, and it looks like her next album won’t be any different!

Taylor Swift, 24, is great at pouring her heart into her music. Her new hit “Stranger Than Fiction” is the latest in a long line of songs about love, and in a new interview with Entertainment Weekly,Taylor heavily suggests that she’s penning some new tracks about Harry Styles!

That’s why writing “Stranger With Fiction” — her Golden Globe nominated track from the movie One Chance — was such a relief.

“My experience with songwriting is usually so confessional, it’s so drawn from my own life and my own stories,” Taylor said. “There’s something so unique about that and I get a special buzz from that. But it’s also kind of cool to focus on somebody else’s story lines.”

Apparently, Taylor needed the distraction — Taylor has been hard at work writing her next album, which she says will be a confessional. And since Harry has been spending so much time with Kendall Jenner, he may want to prep himself for a new diss!

“Describing it is difficult,” Taylor said about the new album. “At the core of what I do, it’s always going to revolve around a confessional storyline and filling my fans in on what my life has actually been. It’s become this lifeline between me and my friends and they know that no matter what they read in some magazine, they’re going to hear the actual accounting of it when the album comes out. I’ve always written songs for the same reason — to sort through my emotions. As I grow up, the lessons I learn in love and relationships and how we treat each other are hopefully maturing — hopefully.”

More details have emerged about Taylor Swiftand Harry Styles' break-up, following yesterday's reports that the pair ended their short-lived romance when Taylor left their tropical holiday in the British Virgin Islands two days early.

"Yes I can confirm they have split up," a MailOnline source said.

"They were on holiday and had an almighty row. They are two young stars at the top of their game so who knows what will happen in the future."

Another source told Life & Style magazine that the pair's work commitments got in the way of their love life.

"They are both really busy and never in one place for long," the source said.

"Harry's really upset about the split and is really sensitive about it. Loads of his friends told him to be careful and that it was never going to last, and he feels a little foolish now that it's fallen apart so quickly."

More evidence of their split has come to light, with two men spotting Taylor looking "visibly heartbroken" at the St Thomas airport in the US Virgin Islands on January 4. The men, Mike Zavagno and Jake Hurley, told the New York Post what they saw.

"She looked really sad and lonely, really down," Zavagno said.

Hurley continued: "We had heard she was down there with Harry Styles from One Direction, but the impression that I got was that they must have had a fight or something because she was just with her bodyguard and I said to Mike, 'She looks really sad'".

Taylor wasn't seen crying, but Hurley said that "you could tell that something was visibly wrong".

"She was just sitting there with her hands in her lap, no phone or anything," he said, adding that when people called her name, she waved back but "didn't really get into it".

Meanwhile, in Harry land, the 18-year-old was seen partying for two days at Richard Branson's Necker Island (see hot tub pic above).

When he flew out on Sunday, Harry was spotted "mingling with pretty female fans" over a three-and-a-half hour layover in Puerto Rico.

One witness told the New York Post that Harry seemed "really happy" with his fans, giving hugs, posing for photos, and eventually going out to lunch with them at a nearby Italian restaurant.

Harry headed straight to the recording studio upon his return to London, talking to girls in the street on his way there. Could there be a break-up song in the works?

According to reports he's been gushing about Kim Kardashian's lil sister to his pals.

After speculation that the hottest teen couple may have called it a day on their budding romance, Kendall Jenner and Harry Styles were spotted back together on Thursday, after spending three weeks apart.

The two young starlets were pictured during a romantic skiing holiday in Mammoth, California.

Looking ever so cool, the rumoured couple looked natural on the snow together as they were seen laughing and enjoying the beautiful scenery.

While Kendall tucked her snowboard under one arm, Harry opted to spend the day skiing and carried his skis in one hand and poles in the other.

Pulling off the ski gear, Kendall, 18, styled her long hair in a simple plait and sported little make up, whereas Harry, 19, was barely recognisable wearing his hood up and reflective goggles.

The cute couple were first spotted together on November 20 exiting Craig’s restaurant in West Hollywood.

After that they wee spotted getting cosy again in New york City in early December at SoHo House.

Neither Harry or Kendall are yet to confirm or deny the dating reports, with the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star previously saying of Styles: “We’re friends. He’s cool.”

Harry, who is known for his status as a ladies’ man, was last seen skiing with ex girlfriend Taylor Swift in Utah over a year ago. It seems he has his favourite date spots!
